The Guides

We are a family operation, guiding trips in the Brooks Range since 1979. Many of our trips are led by owners Carol Kasza or Jim Campbell. We're assisted by a small, select group of outstanding guides who have the same feeling for the land, and for people, as we do. Our children, Kendra and Kyle, have grown up with our business and have helped us with nearly every facet of it.

Arctic Treks has been a leader in setting standards for the wilderness guiding profession and working to protect Alaska's wild lands, and was selected as the 1999 winner of the World Wildlife Fund Arctic Award for Excellence in Linking Tourism and Conservation.

Carol is a former instructor for Colorado Outward Bound School and has served as president of the Alaska Wilderness Guides Association (AWGA), founding board member and president of the Alaska Wilderness Recreation and Tourism Association (AWRTA) and is a current board member of the Alaska Conservation Foundation.

After returning from the jungles of Vietnam, Jim sought out the healing and spiritually renewing qualities of wild places, and is recognized for his simple, gentle way of opening up and sharing this potential with others. Both he and Carol believe this is one of the most powerful aspects of the Far North and operate Arctic Treks in a way that reflects that.
