Noatak River Rafting

Call to arrange a trip

The Noatak is not only one of the great rivers of Alaska, it's the largest untouched river basin in the United States. Our trip begins in a high valley near the headwaters. The scenery is magnificent, with soaring mountains and beckoning side valleys. The river's pace is gentle and flat, offering easy paddling . We spend an equal amount of time day hiking and exploring on foot, with the openness of the north slope terrain providing excellent chances of spotting caribou, Dall sheep, wolves and grizzlies. The numerous lakes near the river also provide habitat for a wide variety of birds and an abundance of fish.

As we travel down river, the country opens up dramatically. The valley widens until finally we feel dwarfed by the vast sweeping tundra and arching sky overhead. The Noatak's journey continues for hundreds of miles, but ours ends here after experiencing 65 miles of the heart of the river. We pass through the village of Bettles at the beginning and end of this trip.
