Killik River Rafting

Call to arrange a trip

This remote, rarely-run river in the far northwest corner of Gates of the Arctic Natl. Park is the epitome of untouched wilderness. While the river's pace is slow and gentle in the upper part, the land itself is vibrantly active and alive. The unusual landforms here have a remarkable beauty—an immense, wide valley dotted with lakes and ancient sand dunes, and soaring mountains beyond. As we travel farther north, the views become even more spacious and expansive, with brilliant swathes of fall colors painting the tundra to the horizon.

This area is also rich with wildlife, with chances of seeing hundreds to thousands of migrating caribou, along with wolves, bears, moose and foxes. The many lakes also attract a multitude of swans, ducks and geese as they're beginning their staging for their migration south. We've only run this river once before, and had such a remarkable experience that we knew we had to go back. We travel through Bettles at both the beginning and end of this trip.
