This is another new river trip we've decided to add to our schedule. We'll begin this trip at the edge of the mountains, where we'll spend several days enjoying the great hiking, looking for wildlife and experiencing the peak of wildflowers. Then we'll set off on a grand float through the foothills and out across the expansive coastal plain, paddling to the "edge of the earth" and the Arctic Ocean. We'll have several days to spend in this mesmerizing realm of light and space, with intriguing birds and plants seen only on the arctic coast.

We'll begin this trip in Arctic Village, with a flight over the entire width of the Brooks Range, and end the trip with a night in the Inupiat Eskimo village of Kaktovik.
